Terms of Service

The agreement between us when you use Travelling in Time.

These terms are a contract between you and the developer of Travelling in Time. By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't install the app. In addition to these terms, Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement (EULA) applies to your use of the app as distributed through the App Store.

1. Your licence

Subject to these terms and Apple's EULA, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for your private, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, lease, sublicense or redistribute the app or any of its content.

2. Minimum requirements

The app requires iOS 16 or later, an active internet connection for location-based content, and permission to access your device's location while in use. CarPlay features require a compatible vehicle and head unit.

3. Acceptable use

When using the app you agree not to:

4. In-app purchases

Certain features may be offered as in-app purchases through Apple. All purchases are processed by Apple and governed by your App Store account terms. Refund requests should be made through Apple's standard refund process. We don't store your payment details.

5. Intellectual property

All content in the app — including text, images, audio, maps, illustrations and the "Travelling in Time" name and logo — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by UK and international copyright, trademark and database-right law. Historical facts are, of course, in the public domain; our expression of them is not.

Map data and rendering are provided by Apple Maps. "Apple", "Apple Maps", "iPhone", "CarPlay" and related marks are trademarks of Apple Inc.

6. User content

The app does not currently allow users to submit, upload or share content. If that changes, this section will be updated.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". Historical content is researched in good faith from public sources, but we make no warranty that every fact is free from error — please don't use it as a source for academic work without verification. Location accuracy depends on your device's GPS; we can't guarantee a story will trigger at every landmark.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data, or loss arising from reliance on historical content. Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these terms. On termination, you must stop using the app; clauses that by their nature should survive (IP, liability, governing law) will survive.

10. Changes to the app and to these terms

We may update the app from time to time to fix bugs, add features or comply with legal requirements. We may also update these terms; the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change and, for material changes, we'll give reasonable notice inside the app or on this website.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers may bring claims in the courts of their home country where required by law.
